Climate Action – Profiling tree nurseries in Eldoret-Iten Water Fund Project Area

Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company (ELDOWAS) in collaboration with the Nature Conservancy, public and private sector stakeholders are in the process of implementing Eldoret-Iten Water Fund (EIWF) project. The project goal is to achieve Biodiversity Conservation and Land degradation prevention by undertaking conservation work in 120,000 hectares of water catchment areas which covers Sabor, Moiben (Cherangany), Kesses, Kipkaren, Kipkabus and Two Rivers watersheds both in Uasin Gishu and Elgeyo Marakwet Counties.  To restore degraded areas in these catchments, some of the project activities include replanting and conserving indigenous and natural forests and improving plantation forest management as well as conserving soil and water through good agricultural practices, agroforestry, and riparian and wetlands restoration.
