Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company Limited, a Water and Sewerage Service Provider serving Uasin Gishu County, invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions:

 

AUDIT  AND RISK COMPLIANCE MANAGER: JOB REF: ELDOWAS/2019/IA/01 

Reporting:  Functionally to the Board through Audit Committee and administratively to thManaging Director. 

Job Summary: The role holder will be responsible for planning and conducting operational, financial and compliance audits to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, governance processes and risk management. This is so as to provide assurance and consulting services which add value and improve the company’s operations. He/she will also make appropriate recommendations to management on internal control and governance best practices.  

Department:    Administration 

Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable at Grade 12 

Requirements for appointment

The ideal officer should have the following minimum requirements:

a)    A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or any other relevant field or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

b)      Must be a Certified Public Accountant - CPA (K) or ACCA.

c)       Must be a registered member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).

d)      A Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Management will be an added advantage.

e)       Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Forensic Examiner (CFE) qualification or any other similar recognized professional body will be an added advantage.

f)       Have a minimum of eight (8) years relevant work experience, five (5) years of which should have been in managerial position overseeing internal audit, risk management and compliance functions.

g)      Have knowledge of Computer Aided Audit programs.

h)      Proficiency in computer operations and skills.

i)       Experience of auditing ERP systems will be an added advantage.

j)       Have proven people management experience as well as strong communication, interpersonal negotiation and leadership skills.

k)     Have proven integrity, ethics, transparency and accountability and must have shown merit and ability as reflected in previous work performance and results;

Key Responsibilities:

a)       Developing and continuously reviewing and assessing the internal audit strategy, policies, procedures, and guidelines;

b)       Ensuring implementation of audit plans as approved by the Risk and Audit Committee;

c)      Coordinating audit reviews of the effectiveness of risk management process and the adequacy of internal controls;

d)      Overseeing preparation and submission of periodic audit  and risk management reports; 

e)      Overseeing the development and implementation of the Risk Management Framework;

f)       Managing risk assessment and developing risk management guidelines as well as fraud investigation and anti-corruption strategy;

g)       Overseeing setting up and implementation of internal audit systems in accordance with International Auditing Standards;

h)       Reporting and communicating audit findings and recommendations to the Management and to the Risk and Audit Committee;

i)        Instituting follow-up audits to ensure implementation of audit recommendations;

j)       Coordinating timely performance of special audit investigations and forensic audits as necessary; and 

k)      Overseeing supervision, staff development and performance evaluation appraisal.

  

 

QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER: JOB REF: ELDOWAS/2017/QAM/01

 

Reporting To: The Head of Technical Services

Job summary:

The job holder will be responsible for ensuring the company products conform to the recommended standards and overall coordination of the company laboratory activities.

Department: Technical Services

Terms of service: Permanent and Pensionable at Grade 10

 

Requirements  for appointment

The ideal officer should have the following minimum requirements:

a)       Have a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

b)      Have a minimum of eight (8) years relevant experience three (3) of which should have been in the mid-level management of a busy water laboratory.

c)       A Master’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or Microbiology will be an added advantage.

d)      Proficiency in computer operations and skills.

e)       Have proven people management experience as well as strong communication, interpersonal negotiation and leadership skills.

 

Key Responsibilities:

a)       Planning and coordination of operations of all the company laboratories whose key mandate is to ensure the quality of water supplied to consumers and the effluent discharged to the environment conform to the relevant set standards and laws.

b)   Conduct research and recommend the most suitable water and wastewater treatment methods and chemicals to be used from time to time.

c)    Review and recommend laboratory operations, procedures, methods and equipment from time to time.

d)    Preparation of annual work plans and budgets for the section.       

e)       Prepare and submit periodic laboratory reports for internal and external consumption.

f)       Ensure the company Laboratory maintains the ISO 17025: 2005 accreditation as well as seeking for additional certifications.

g)      Recommend the laboratory tests the company can perform for external customers and the respective charges.

h)      Marketing of laboratory activities to the external customers to ensure that the laboratory becomes commercially viable.

i)        Preparation of the company water safety plans.

j)      Overall supervision of the Quality Assurance staff, ensuring that they receive adequate resources and training required to perform their work.

 

MAINTENANCE OFFICER (ELECTRO-MECHANICAL) : JOB REF: ELDOWAS/2019/MO/01

 Reporting To: The Head of Technical Services

 

Job summary:

The job holder will be responsible for ensuring that all the company installations operate efficiently, effectively and optimally at all times.

Department: Technical Services 

Terms of service: Permanent and Pensionable at Grade 8 

Requirements  for appointment

The ideal officer should have the following minimum requirements:

a)       A Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma in Electromechanical engineering, automotive engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

b)      A minimum of six (6) years relevant working experience three (3) of which should have been in a large water utility will be an added advantage

c)       Proficiency in computer operations and skills.

d)      Have proven supervision experience as well as strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.

 

Key Responsibilities:

a)       Preparation of periodic maintenance schedules and budgets for all company installations.

b)      Ensuring adherence to all preventive and corrective maintenance schedules.

c)       Ensure timely repairs at all times to minimize down times of company installations.

d)       Evaluate maintenance processes for potential improvements in quality, reliability, turnaround times and costs.

e)       Ensure availability of quality maintenance parts and materials at all times.

f)       Design and implementation of continuous improvement projects.

g)      Research on and recommend new efficient equipment for the company installations

h)      Overall supervision of all the maintenance staff, ensuring that they receive adequate resources, tools, protective clothing and training required to perform their work
